The Conquest of Coromandel
“They’d be real interesting but for the lunatics and beasts that are drawn to ’em. Damn things pop out at you from behind them.”
—overheard in a Rilkan tavern
The Wyr Stones dot the sill on the north shore of Lake Ishwyr, situated at the south edge of the Krenshar Plains. They are a relic from ages past, and not even the Rilkan know where they came from. Rumors of their origin include hidden tombs of past rulers, or the field for some inscrutable ancient game. Some claim it used to be the spell-testing grounds for a powerful wizard, back before the Planar Schism. All that is known for sure is that the Wyr Stones seem to attract savage beasts from miles around, as well as men that act like savage beasts. Rilkan from farms nearby have often lamented of lost loved ones found slobbering madly at the Stones, irretrievably mad. Numbering fewer are the stories of those who emerge from the Stones not quite sane, but overtaken with emotion and with a sickly blue glow in their eyes.
